The East Region, headlined by Duke as the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, has been given an ominous nickname for good reason.
The East Region may very well be the most stacked region in March Madness history 👀 pic.twitter.com/lS2MqYxTAO

The teams in the East Region have combined for some serious hardware.
Duke, UConn, Kansas, UCLA and Michigan State are ALL in the East Region in the men’s bracket 👀
Those 5 schools have combined for 496 tournament wins and 28 national championships (excluding vacated wins/titles) 🏆 pic.twitter.com/m3OthqNrum

In a tournament where you fight for your life in every game, it’ll be tough to face up against any one of Duke, UConn, Kansas, UCLA, Michigan State, St John’s, or any of the lower seeds.
They’re calling it the “Region of Doom”.
i feel bad for all the teams in the east region. that’s most definitely the region of doom and despair

The rest of social media agrees.
The East Region is BLUE BLOODS:
1 Duke
2 UConn
3 MSU
4 Kansas
5 St John’s
6 Louisville
7 UCLA— RMacs (@PhillyHotspur) March 15, 2026
My immediate thoughts on the men’s March Madness bracket, a 🧵:
East Region:
Lots of big-name schools in this region.
USF vs Louisville👀.
Self vs Pitino in the second round, potentially.
Duke doesn’t have it easy. This region will be a fight.

East region is filled with quality coaches like Tom Izzo of Michigan State, Rick Pitino of St. John’s, Bill Self of Kansas, Danny Hurley of UConn, Jon Scheyer of Duke. The first four have won national titles. Scheyer has been to the Final Four.

With action tipping off Thursday, the East Region should be a blast to watch… unless, of course, your team is one of the 16 stuck surviving it.
