A 7-v-7 high school football game in North Carolina took an incredibly violent turn.
7on7 keeps getting further and further away from football.
Less development.
More stupidity.
More theatrics.
More people embarrassing the game.Fighting a ref at a 7on7 is insane work.
The whole thing is getting out of hand.
This is doing the exact opposite of what 7on7… pic.twitter.com/qNku8nDvRz

Meant to be developmental, 7 v 7’s are meant for youth football players to continue playing in a competitive environment during the offseason.
There is no contact, little to no gear, and usually, no fighting between the referees and coaches (even after a bad call).
That is an outrageous photograph. Good grief. https://t.co/pSGKvKc5ff

While there is little information on the specifics of the incident, the jarring photograph of the ref knocked out on the field was enough for it to go mega-viral on the internet:
100% what would’ve happened if that ref called a technical on Hurley https://t.co/bfbDilplRp

You can end this real quick. Make the 7 on 7 programs obsolete and allow for high schools to have school sponsored teams/coaches. That will cut out the bullcrap that goes on at these tournaments if state associations are involved. https://t.co/ZHEfR26PFN

This easily one of the funniest photos I’ve ever seen https://t.co/a0NgjAujHj

If you are wondering why there’s a major referee shortage across all of youth sports, I’d consider this incident “Evidence A.”
