Legendary college football coach Nick Saban often was hard to beat. But there’s one coach who claimed victory over him more than once while he patrolled the sidelines at Alabama: Hugh Freeze.

Freeze, now the coach at Auburn, claimed victories over Saban’s vaunted Tide teams in consecutive years in the 2010s. They’re one of the few programs to defeat Alabama in consecutive years during Saban’s illustrious run in Tuscaloosa.

And the thing is: In Freeze’s mind? He believes he should have even more.

The Auburn head coach joined Marty and McGee on the SEC Network this week. In a teaser Smith posted, Freeze made a bold claim: That he thinks he should have four wins against the legendary head coach.

“Nick is incredible,” Freeze said. “But I should have four wins against them. We beat ’em twice, and we had 24-3 the third year. And I wasn’t smart enough to slow it down. And then last year easily could have gone our way.”

Freeze recognized he might not have “phrased that right” but still believes his Tigers and, previously, the Ole Miss Rebels could have toppled the Crimson Tide more often.
