The Oregon Ducks have a big weekend ahead of them. The Ducks host the second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in a massive litmus test for the program. Oregon had high expectations going into the season, and the 5-0 Ducks have played their role. They’ve progressively gotten better, even through some skittish play along the way. The defense is sharp as a tack and has looked like the most impressive unit.
So it’s no surprise that an Oregon defensive end won the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week award. Jordan Burch, an outstanding end formerly from South Carolina, had a terrific performance against the Michigan State Spartans. For his efforts, the Ducks defensive end earned the weekly honor.
“Jordan Burch is the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week,” the Ducks’ football program announced on X, the website formerly known as Twitter on Monday.
Game wrecker.

Oregon has a lot of talent on the team especially on defense. The defensive talent is really starting to show through as the team matures through the year. After being unable to corral the slippery Ashton Jeanty, Oregon’s defense has locked in. They shut out Oregon State in the second half, and allowed just six offensive points to UCLA. They then responded by allowing only one touchdown and a field goal to Michigan State.
They’re locking in and perhaps at the right time with vaunted Ohio State coming to town. They’ll need to be at their best to tame the mighty Buckeyes.
