The Oregon Ducks are back on top of the college football world.

Oregon is out to a 7-0 start in its first year in the Big Ten Conference. As a result of its pristine record, Oregon now ranks at the top of the newest AP poll.

“Oregon is new No. 1 in AP Top 25 college football poll after Texas loses to Georgia at home,” the AP poll posted.

As Hayes Fawcett noted, this is the first time the Ducks are the top of the polls since 2012.

The 2012 Oregon Ducks came awfully close to history. Oregon finished that season with one loss and capped it off with a Fiesta Bowl win over Kansas State. But the door was open for Oregon to make the National Championship Game. In 2012, Alabama lost to Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish finished the year undefeated. Oregon would have done the same, had it not been for a late-season loss to Stanford. Zach Ertz scored a touchdown to give the Cardinal a victory, and dealt a bitter defeat to the Ducks.

Twelve years later, Oregon is 7-0 and may have little challenge the rest of the way. The Ducks will have all eyes on them now the rest of the season. The college football world had much to say over the Ducks being atop the polls.
