It’s rare for someone to transcend generations and become a true icon.
On Wednesday, legendary Lou Holtz, the Hall of Fame coach who led Notre Dame to the 1988 national championship, passed away at the age of 89.

Holtz coached 16 seasons at William & Mary, NC State, Arkansas, and Minnesota before taking the helm at Notre Dame, leading the iconic program to an undefeated season and consensus national championship in 1988. Notre Dame paid tribute to Holtz through a highlight video.
