Sometimes fouling with a lead makes sense, but for Southern Oregon University, it led to heartbreak.
NAIA school Southern Oregon University ended its season in the most painful way possible:
In the conference tournament quarterfinals, SOU fouled Bushnell University while up by to 2 with 0.1 seconds left from the opposite free-throw line. 🤦♂️ pic.twitter.com/0gN93K8yvM

The gamble to intentionally miss a free-throw up by two with a second remaining backfired for SOU. They lost the rebound, accidentally fouled, and Bushnell University buried three clutch free throws to win the game.
Social media couldn’t believe it.
This is absolutely crazy. NAIA postseason madness has arrived. https://t.co/YrIuJnjXSY

What the actual hell is number 0 doing? Might be the lowest iq play I’ve ever seen on a basketball court.

Not even a single chance a truly qualified official calls that a foul. But when you, up 2, intentionally miss a free throw with 1.2 seconds on the clock and the opposing team has no timeouts, your head coach is even less qualified than the ref.

This might be one of the most painful ends to a basketball game ever.
