Dawn Staley and Geno Auriemma nearly came to blows after South Carolina defeated UConn in the Final Four.
Literally.

The beef started in the pregame, when Geno Auriemma wasn’t pleased with the fact that Dawn Staley made him wait for a handshake.
Geno Auriemma, remarks on waiting for Dawn Staley for halfcourt handshake.
“For 41 years I’ve been coaching…The protocol is before the game you meet at halfcourt,..They announce it on loudspeaker. I waited there for like 3 minutes. So, it is what it is” pic.twitter.com/3l3wrZUpu1

Auriemma’s anger didn’t fade, as he watched his team struggle to shoot the ball and continue to rack up fouls.
He had an all-time in-game interview complaining about both the officiating and Dawn Staley’s attitude.
“They’ve been beating the sh*t out of [us] down there the entire game.”

This all led us to an unbelievable moment at half-court with 0.1 seconds left on the clock, when Geno approached Staley and the two engaged in a verbal altercation.

Staley kept the attention on her players in her postgame press conference, as they have only a day to prepare for UCLA in the National Championship game.

Did Geno take it too far, or is this just a classic ‘rivalry’ moment?
