Texas Tech football head coach Joey McGuire fired a shot at the University of Texas over a high-profile scheduling feud.
The conflict began when Texas coach Sarkisian criticized Texas Tech’s schedule, claiming Texas could go undefeated against Tech’s schedule with UT’s backups.
McGuire responded by publicly proposing to buy out Texas Tech’s Week 1 game against Abilene Christian and offered to buy out Texas’ opener against Texas State so the teams could face each other.
The bad blood worsened when McGuire publicly claimed on Wednesday that the Longhorns won’t schedule the Red Raiders “because they’re scared.”
