The No. 6 Missouri Tigers have been one of college football’s most dominant teams this season, opening the year with back-to-back shutout victories over the Murray State Racers and Buffalo Bulls.
However, the injury bug struck the team in the game against Buffalo as top two wide receivers Luther Burden and Theo Wease left the game early.
With a showdown with the No. 24 Boston College Eagles on the horizon this Saturday, Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz gave a promising update on both star wideouts.
“Both feeling good. Luther’s, I would say, probable. Theo’s probable. I’m not concerned about either one of those right now,” Drinkwitz said during Tuesday’s media availability.
There wasn’t much concern about Burden’s status, as he left the Buffalo game with an illness and Missouri was well in control by the time he left. Wease was excellent in the Buffalo win, hauling in 13 receptions for 149 yards before leaving the game after taking a big hit and was seemingly favoring his shoulder on the sideline, but it seems like any lingering concern has dissipated.
Burden and Wease combined for 135 receptions, 1,894 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Tigers last season, and will be every bit as vital to the team’s success this season.
The Tigers host Boston College this Saturday in the week’s lone Top 25 matchup at 12:45 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
