2004 Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart named his prediction to win this year’s coveted honor.

Leinart believes that Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe will be the one to win the award this season. Leinart ranked Milroe over the likes of Dillon Gabriel, Quinn Ewers, Travis Hunter, Carson Beck, and Jaxson Dart.

The former Southern Cal standout made his picks on On3.

Milroe excelled last year for the Crimson Tide en route to their College Football Playoff appearance. After a rocky start, Milroe held command of the Alabama offense. He helped them defeat the Georgia Bulldogs in the Southeastern Championship Game and went blow for blow with the Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl Game.

Big things are expected for him, especially in a new offense with new head coach Kalen DeBoer. The former Washington coach had a high-flying attack with the Huskies, led by first-rounders Michael Penix Jr. and Rome Odunze.

The other players will have their chances as well. Gabriel will command an exciting Oregon team in the Ducks’ first season in the Big Ten. High expectations will follow Texas’ Quinn Ewers in the Longhorns’ first season in the SEC. Carson Beck has Eli Manning-like comparisons, Travis Hunter is scintillating, and big things are expected out of Jaxson Dart and preseason Top 10 Ole Miss.

It’s bound to be another exciting year of college football.
