Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Tyler Van Dyke tore his ACL on Saturday against the Alabama Crimson Tide. As a result of that diagnosis, Van Dyke will miss the remainder of the 2024 college football season.

Madison.com reported the dispiriting news on Van Dyke.

“Wisconsin quarterback situation clearer with answer to starter injury timeline,” they posted on Monday afternoon.

“The University of Wisconsin senior quarterback suffered a knee injury Saturday against Alabama, which was confirmed by an MRI Sunday morning,” they wrote citing sources from BadgerExtra. They added that “Van Dyke will not return to the field this season.”

ESPN’s Pete Thamel confirmed the news later.

Thamel explained that the injury was “a full ACL tear in his right knee, and the timeline for recovery isn’t clear yet.”

It’s an unfortunate end for Van Dyke, who might see his college football career come to an end as a result. Van Dyke began his career at Miami in 2020. He played with the Hurricanes for four seasons and regrettably didn’t meet the expectations the Hurricanes had. He transferred to Wisconsin in the hopes of getting another shot. But that chance has gone up in smoke three weeks into the 2024 season. Van Dyke played in three games this season for the Badgers and threw one touchdown pass.

If this is it for Van Dyke, he leaves with 7,891 career passing yards, 55 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions in 35 career games.
