One week after North Dakota State University paid $17.5 million to join the Mountain West Conference, Sacramento State is set to pay $18 million to move into the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and jump from the FCS to the FBS level.
One noted concern with Sacramento State joining the MAC is that it sits more than 2,000 miles from its nearest opponent, a burden that will almost certainly take a toll on players.
