The last perfect record in college basketball barely survived the night.
With less than a second left in regulation, Miami freshman Trey Perry scored a game-winning layup to preserve their 29-0 record and keep their March Madness hopes alive.

Trailing by four at the half, Miami HC Travis Steele lost it on the officials, knocking over the DJ’s speakers on the way to the locker room and picking up a technical foul.

Despite the halftime antics, Steele coached the Redhawks to their 29th straight win.
While being the only undefeated team in college basketball is incredibly impressive, it may not be enough for the Redhawks. With a shaky strength of schedule, they’ll likely need to win their conference title to lock up a spot in March, as an at-large bid is not a safe bet.
Every team that wins 30 games in a season should be a NCAAT lock.
This shouldn’t be a hot, warm or cold take. It should just be.

I don’t give a shit if they get knocked out in the 64, they deserve to be there. https://t.co/FDsblTDhL5

Miami Ohio’s miracle run has been a lot of fun, but the job to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007 is far from over.
