After losing by 16 to No. 5 Vanderbilt, Schaefer had choice words for his roster.

Schaefer, who has led the Longhorns since 2020, has guided the program to the NCAA Tournament in each of his five seasons, highlighted by a Final Four appearance last year and three trips to the Elite Eight.
Last night’s loss to Vanderbilt was one of the worst in his six seasons at the helm.
Vanderbilt outscored Texas 27-15 in the 1st quarter.

Vanderbilt G Mikayla Blakes’ 34 points tonight is the most scored against a Vic Schaefer-coached team at Texas. In the 206 games since Schaefer got to Austin ahead of the 2020-21 season, Texas has allowed just six 30-point performances. #HookEm pic.twitter.com/DxannFGMZu

Will Schaefer’s comments light a fire under his team just in time for a deep run in March Madness or is Texas trending down at the worst possible time?
