It turns out people DO want to watch the Savannah Bananas play baseball.

The Bananas game at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field drew 102,000 people, shattering their previous attendance record.
The scenes at College Station were wild.
Apparently it’s a hot take on here but I don’t get the Savannah bananas hate. It’s obviously fun, people enjoy it, it’s not like it’s trying to rip off baseball, it’s never claimed that. Simply a fun thing to do, like the globetrotters. pic.twitter.com/oG5HcFJBwA

Dubbed “Banana Ball”, the game prioritizes a fast pace, with silly rules and stoppages for entertainment. In between all of that, they still play real baseball for wins and losses. The Bananas ended up losing to the Texas Tailgaters.

Not everyone is a fan of the newest exhibition in sports:

Don’t ever let the Savannah Bananas anywhere close to College Station ever again.

Listen, maybe it’s because I’m a baseball purist, but I don’t understand the Savannah Bananas hype.
I don’t mean to be negative, but what is the appeal? How are these guys selling out stadiums? I’m genuinely curious. https://t.co/Zx7xEJBkro

Some did come to the defense of the newest iteration of baseball:
I don’t get why the Savannah Bananas make people so angry. It’s basically like the Harlem Globetrotters. Don’t think of it like real baseball and just think of it as entertainment. It’s not my thing but I get why people enjoy it, especially kids. https://t.co/eUjt774gCH

Love it or hate it, seeing a full Kyle Field has us ready for college football season. Only 117 days away.
