Michigan Basketball’s Practice At The Big House Goes Viral

There’s a reason shooters go cold in football stadiums.

It’s called the ‘dome effect’. 70,000 filled seats, an inconsistent background, and zero close visual reference points wreak havoc on depth perception and turn reliable three-point shooters into average Joes.

Dusty May is getting credit for having his team practice at The Big House this week to prepare for the Final Four.

If it seems performative, it’s not.

Michigan shot 44% from three, compared to UConn’s 36%, Arizona’s 35%, and Illinois 23% (Yikes.)

Of course, UConn has had plenty of practice in football stadiums already.

We guarantee every coach in the Final Four will follow suit by practicing in a football stadium going forward.
