Earlier this week, Tennessee athletic director Danny White responded to allegations of fake crowd noise at Neyland Stadium. Later, on Wednesday, head coach Josh Heupel weighed in on the “controversy.”
The Tennessee coach adamantly denied the idea that the Vols are installing artificial sounds inside their hallowed home.
Vols reporter Noah Taylor quoted Heupel on Wednesday on the issue.

Earlier in the week, the aforementioned White adamantly denied the allegations. “No, we don’t!” White said in a post on X. It appeared the allegations came from miffed Alabama announcers in the booth at Neyland Stadium last Saturday afternoon. Make what you will of all that, but it certainly seems like there’s no fire in this smoke. Tennessee probably won’t even have to concede an investigation at this rate. It seems like now the fans might turn this into motivation for themselves.
Whether the Vols follow suit is yet to be seen. But if they can channel that energy, it might help them going forward.
Tennessee defeated Alabama in another hotly-contested edition of their annual rivalry last week. Now the Volunteers are on a bye before an important month of November begins.
