Dillon Gabriel Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel scores a touchdown against Ohio State in the fourth quarter at Autzen Stadium Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024.

The No. 1 Oregon Ducks are flying high. After their massive win over the Ohio State Buckeyes two weeks ago, Oregon followed that up with a 35-0 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel was instrumental in the Ducks’ victories and played sharply against the Boilermakers last week.

Gabriel has performed mightily well for Oregon since transferring to Eugene from Oklahoma. He joined On3’s The Hard Count and discussed how head coach Dan Lanning has been such a tone-setter for the Ducks.

“Being aggressive, being the aggressors. You know, playing a game that you’ve got to go win it,” Gabriel said via On3. “You know, that’s where college football is, as well. You know, you have to stay aggressive and play to win, throw to win.

“But I think if you look back, even to when Coach Lanning first got here,” he added. “I think he set the tone on how he wanted his program to look, and that’s with, you know, how aggressive he’s been, you know, throughout the years.”

Gabriel spoke highly of his coach and the way he treats fourth downs, onside kicks, and other aggressive philosophies the team has shown under him since 2022. It’s clearly been effective, and especially so this year. The Ducks are 7-0 and look to aim for perfection as the season winds down.

Oregon will play the Illinois Fighting Illini this Saturday on CBS. It’s the Ducks’ debut on the network, as their Big Ten season marches on.
