The Colorado Buffaloes have had the nation’s attention over the last two years. That attention also comes from former President Barack Obama.

At an Arizona rally last week, Obama quipped that Colorado only had “a couple of good players.” Colorado, of course, defeated the Wildcats in a game that rarely felt close.

After head coach Deion Sanders responded to Obama’s words, his son Sheduer, a top-flight draft prospect next year, also issued a response of his own.

“I think it was a tough position he was put in. I think he just had to say that,” Sanders hypothesized on the 2Legendary podcast via On3. “But the only thing is just like, you know how hard it is for people and for so much hate to be directed at us.”

This Colorado team looks drastically different than last year’s. The Buffaloes are 5-2 and 3-1 in the competitive Big 12 Conference. With a game separating them from 4-0 BYU and Iowa State, it’s expected to be a photo finish this year in the conference. That’s different from how prognosticators expected this year, but because of Sanders, Travis Hunter, and improvements on defense, Colorado has been booming.

On what Obama said, Sanders said he wished the former President was more uplifting, but ultimately, he understood the tough spot he was put in.

Sanders is among the top eligible quarterbacks in next year’s NFL Draft. Many have thought he could be the top quarterback chosen in next year’s NFL Draft, seeing him go over the likes of Quinn Ewers, Carson Beck, and many more. At this point, it’s hard to doubt that it could happen. Nobody has really set themselves apart, and Sanders has done nothing to shrink his stock either. “Attitude” concerns aside, he’s as good a prospect as anybody.
