Georgia Bulldogs running back Trevor Etienne may face punishment for his offseason DUI.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel suggested that Etienne, a transfer from Florida, may face a one-game suspension for committing the crime earlier this year.
Thamel appeared on College Football Live and said, “The headline is that Trevor Etienne is facing a one-game suspension. He got arrested in March on DUI charges. Under Georgia Athletic Department policy, he’s expected to miss one game.”
Etienne figures to be a significant contributor to Georgia this season. His absence would likely be felt without him, but the Dawgs still have talent in their backfield. Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson II were former four-star recruits in high school and are currently the backups to Etienne.
Georgia hasn’t announced any discipline for Etienne, but Thamel’s suggestion makes it appear that ruling could come soon.
The top-ranked Dawgs open the 2024 college football season on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta. Georgia will play the Top 25-ranked Clemson Tigers in a highly-anticipated matchup. Cade Klubnik and Carson Beck, two of the nation’s best quarterbacks, will collide. It’s expected to be one of the premier games of the weekend.
Georgia hopes to get back to its winning ways. After conceding the Southeastern Conference to Alabama last season, the Bulldogs are after its third SEC title and, additionally, its third National Championship in four years.
