The Colorado Buffaloes and Colorado State Buffaloes have seen their rivalry take new steps forward in the last two years. Some might argue that “forward” means “deeper” into hatred, but that’s what sports rivalries are all about.

Shedeur Sanders and Colorado defeated the Rams 28-9 in Colorado Springs on Saturday night. Ahead of the game, there was trash talk. Two Colorado State players, Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi and Tory Horton, had choice words for CU and called them out before the game.

CU responded by defeating them by nearly three touchdowns. After the game, Fowler-Nicolosi and Sanders exchanged words. The top-flight quarterback Sanders spoke after the game about how he felt the Rams deserved the response they got.

“They asked for it,” Sanders said via The Spun.

Head coach Deion Sanders spoke about the “foolishness” from Colorado State this week after the game ended in their favor.

“Personal game, emotional game. They kind of make it like that. We just want to play some football. The disrespect was uncalled for throughout the week,” Sanders said via ESPN.com. “We knew that coming into the game it was going to be a bit personal, and it was.”

The Buffaloes open Big 12 play this weekend against the Baylor Bears in Colorado’s return to the conference. All eyes will once again be on them.
