On Tuesday, the Big Ten Conference reached new heights. The NCAA named the field for the 2024 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament. And, surprise, there are many Big Ten teams involved.
In fact, it was a record-setting amount. Ten teams from the conference were named to the field, all of them having made the B1G conference soccer tournament, which UCLA won over the weekend.
“All 10 teams who qualified for this year’s Big Ten Tournament will play in the first round of this year’s tournament, including Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, UCLA, USC, Washington and Wisconsin,” the Big Ten announced in a release.
“The 10 NCAA Tournament selections set the Big Ten Conference record for the most postseason selections in a single season, surpassing last year’s record of nine,” they added.
USC and UCLA are at the top of the conference and are the first and second seeds in the tournament, respectively. USC grabbed its first-ever 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament after winning its first conference championship as a conference member.
The NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament is sure to be another fun ride. With the conference’s many teams competing, it will prove interesting to see if a champion comes from the conference. They’ve certainly got the strength to do it.
