The Missouri Tigers will renew their rivalry with the Oklahoma Sooners this weekend. Mizzou and OU have not played each other since the Tigers departed the Big 12 Conference following the 2011-12 academic year. The two teams had high-profile collisions at the end of the 2000s, so there’ll be lots of energy to recapture. But Mizzou might still be without their quarterback.

Brady Cook has been banged up for weeks. Cook put on a heroic performance in a win on Homecoming against Auburn several weeks ago. But the beleaguered Mizzou quarterback suffered a hand injury against Alabama and hasn’t felt right.

Ahead of the game against rival Oklahoma, Mizzou listed its star quarterback as “questionable” on the Wednesday injury report.

With two losses, Mizzou has a thin margin for error the rest of the way. They’ve fallen to two strong teams—Texas A&M and Alabama—in important road games this season. Their chances of making the playoff are thin, if they even exist, even after starting at No. 24 in the first rankings issued out this week. Oklahoma, meanwhile, wants to rescue its season and hopes to take down an old rival to get to that point.

So whether Cook plays or not, the rest of the season will prove interesting for Mizzou in how they finish.

The Sooners and Tigers have met as members of the Big 8 and Big 12, and now on Saturday, they’ll meet as members of the Southeastern Conference.
