For over 15 years, NFL linebacker Thomas Davis Sr. was one of the league’s most feared linebackers.

Playing most of his career with the Carolina Panthers, who drafted him in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft out of Georgia, Davis Sr. was named to three Pro Bowl teams and one NFL All-Pro team as he helped anchor a Carolina defense that played in 11 postseason games while he was with the team including Super Bowl 50.

Davis Sr. spent the final two seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers and Washington Football Team before retiring after the 2020 campaign.

However, his son Thomas Davis Jr, is set to continue his father’s legacy. Tuesday on X, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported that Davis Jr, also a linebacker, has committed to head coach Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Davis Jr. is a four-star linebacker in the class of 2026. He had offers from a host of other schools including the Ohio State Buckeyes, Tennessee Volunteers, and North Carolina  Tar Heels. Surprisingly, the Georgia Bulldogs didn’t offer Davis Jr. Davis Sr was a two-time first-team All-SEC linebacker for the program in the early 2000s.

Davis Jr. was on hand for Notre Dame’s 52-3 win over the Florida State Seminoles over the weekend, which seemingly pushed his decision across the finish line.
