The Tennessee Volunteers have entered a multi-year partnership agreement with Knoxville-based Pilot Travel Centers.
The school announced the news Tuesday, noting that the partnership will be in place for “up to 20 years” but could extend past that.
Per the release, Pilot has also been named the presenting partner of Tennessee’s ongoing Neyland Stadium renovation project and was named the official travel stop of Tennessee Athletics.
Tennessee also confirmed that thanks to the partnership, Neyland Stadium’s and Shields-Watkins Field’s names will remain intact.
“Because we were committed to preserving the name of Neyland Stadium, finding a partner who shared this vision was essential. With deep roots here in Knoxville, Pilot recognizes the significance of Neyland and the importance of tradition to our fans and the university. Our focus continues to preserve and honor our storied past while modernizing to ensure we lead the way in college sports,” said Danny White, Tennessee’s Athletic Director.
The deal will also result in an influx of Pilot branding in and around Neyland Stadium and Shields-Watkins Field. The brand’s logo will be featured on both sidelines, and the “Home of the Vols” sign on the stadium’s east side will also now feature Pilot’s branding. Additionally, Pilot will open a quick-service snack and beverage stand inside Neyland Stadium near the main entrance.
“Neyland Stadium is one of the most iconic sporting venues in the world and UT is a significant part of making Knoxville a special place that Pilot is proud to call home. Through this partnership, we will preserve the legacy of Neyland while also investing in its future to create exceptional experiences for generations to come. We look forward to seeing you out here as we cheer on the Vols in Neyland,” Pilot CEO Adam Wright added.
