The Big Ten and Chicago Cubs announced Thursday that a pair of hockey doubleheaders will be held at Wrigley Field.

There will be three Big Ten men’s hockey games and one Western Collegiate Hockey Association women’s game taking place on January 3-4,  2025.

The Penn State Nittany Lions will play the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in one of the games on January 3. The Michigan Wolverines will play the Ohio State Buckeyes in the other of the doubleheader. The order of the games is pending, but start times will be 4:00 and 7:30 p.m. CT.

The second day will be a big one for Wisconsin Badgers fans. January 4 will feature a women’s game as Wisconsin takes on the Buckeyes in a WCHA clash. The other game on the ledger for that day will see the Badgers men’s squad take on the Michigan State Spartans. The order of the games is pending. The start times will be 4:30 and 8:00 p.m. CT.

All four games will air on the Big Ten Network.

Four of the six men’s teams finished in the Top 10 of the national polls last season, and all six appeared in at least the Top 20. Michigan has been to three straight Frozen Fours.

Ohio State and Wisconsin are the powerhouses of women’s hockey. The teams have combined to win the past five national championships including facing each other in the past two.

Wrigley Field will already be setup for hockey that week as its hosting the NHL’s Winter Classic between the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues.
