The Oregon Ducks confirmed some dispiriting news this weekend. Head coach Dan Lanning addressed the media and said that offensive lineman Matthew Bedford injured his leg this past week in practice.
Ducks reporter Matthew Prehm said Lanning noted that the team doesn’t expect Bedford to be out long-term.
“Dan Lanning confirmed that senior guard Matthew Bedford sustained an injury in fall camp, but also said they expect him to play at some point this year,” Prehm wrote on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

Bedford joined the Ducks this past offseason. He previously played at Indiana from 2019 to 2023. Last season, he started 11 games for the Hoosiers and allowed only one sack all season. He figured to help the Ducks on the line this year, but his contributions will simply have to wait.
Oregon has high expectations in their first year in the Big Ten Conference. The Ducks rank third in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 poll. While Ohio State is the favorite, many expect Oregon to challenge the Buckeyes for the top of the conference this season.
