The much-anticipated news is finally official: Arch Manning will start for the Texas Longhorns.
Quinn Ewers strained his oblique last week against the UTSA Roadrunners, opening the door for the touted Manning to play. Manning debuted with fanfare and played great football as he led Texas to victory.
Now, on Saturday against UL Monroe, he’ll make his first collegiate start.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian officially announced that the Longhorns will roll with the touted sophomore quarterback this Saturday in Austin. Texas reporter Anwar Richardson posted the news on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

“Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian just announced that Arch Manning will start against ULM on Saturday,” Richardson wrote.
Manning was one of the most hyped high school recruits in several years. Following in the footsteps of Eli, Peyton, and Archie, Arch is the latest quarterback in the family to make waves. He had a dazzling performance last week against UTSA. Given the difference in talent this week, Arch should have no problem slinging it against ULM.
All eyes will certainly be on Manning and top-ranked Texas this weekend as if they weren’t going to be already. It could go down as a historic day.
