All eyes are on the Nebraska Cornhuskers this season. Freshman standout Dylan Raiola, a five-star recruit and the top-rated quarterback in his class, is expected to lead the charge this season for the Huskers. But head coach Matt Rhule has been patient in making a decision on who will be the starter in 2024.

At fall camp this week, Rhule addressed this pressing situation ahead of the team’s Week 1 opener against UTEP.

“Probably at some point this week. I’ll probably be ready to name it at some point this week,” Rhule told reporters.

Rhule also told reporters he didn’t see value in “creating energy” in the team by withholding information on who would start. The Nebraska coach said that the staff knows internally that they have to build to make the quarterback successful. Rhule said that he expects the team to “love” all three potential quarterbacks.

Raiola, Daniel Kaelin, and Heinrich Haarberg have all competed for the Huskers quarterback job all offseason.

Nebraska hopes to continue its turnaround in 2024. The Huskers were once one of college football’s most dominant and prominent programs. But since the late 1990s, they haven’t recaptured that excellence or that spirit. But fueled by Rhule and potentially Raiola, Nebraska hopes to once again make a run at the top. It won’t be easy in the new Big Ten, but it’s not supposed to be.
