As the Michigan Wolverines prepare to open the season against the Fresno State Bulldogs on Saturday, they have reportedly added a former SEC assistant coach to their staff.
Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported Wednesday that the Wolverines added former Vanderbilt Commodores running backs coach Jayden Everett to first-year head coach Sherrone Moore’s staff.

As Zenitz notes, Everett’s pedigree is impressive, leading Sedrick Alexander to success at Vanderbilt and Teon Dollard while with the Akron Zips.
Everett spent one season with Vanderbilt before leaving the program in January after the Commodores fired offensive coordinator Joey Lynch. This move led to multiple offensive assistants leaving the school.
It’s unclear what his role will be on Michigan’s staff. He will likely be an analyst as the Wolverines hired former Ohio State Buckeyes running backs coach Tony Alford to the same position earlier this offseason.
Michigan’s rushing attack has been the team’s bread and butter over the past three seasons, leading to a wealth of on-field success. The Wolverines have averaged 207 rushing yards per game since 2021.
