While the Florida State Seminoles are having one of the worst starts to the season of any team in the country, head coach Mike Norvell and his staff received some good news on the recruiting trail this week.

Izayia Williams, a four-star safety in the class of 2026 from Tavares, Florida, committed to Norvell and the Seminoles Wednesday night.

He confirmed the news on his X account.

Williams was previously committed to the Syracuse Orange before reopening his recruitment in August. He visited multiple in-state schools last week, visiting the Florida Gators to see their 41-17 loss to the Miami Hurricanes and Tallahassee on Monday for Florida State’s shocking loss to the Boston College Eagles.

Despite the 0-2 start to the 2024 season for FSU, Williams is sure it’s where he wants to be.

“Every program has a bad game — that doesn’t determine what a program is really. When I talked to Coach Norvell, it was different than talking to other coaches. I could feel that difference. He wants me to be something great there someday,” Williams told ESPN.

Williams is the third player in Florida State’s class of 2026 to appear on the ESPN300, and he is the highest-rated of the three.

FSU will have a week off before returning to action against the Memphis Tigers on September 14.
