The Michigan Wolverines put up a dud on Saturday afternoon. Texas sliced and diced the Wolverines all afternoon in Ann Arbor and won 31-12 over the reigning National Champions. It was a statement win for the Longhorns program, and in turn, a loss that told us a lot about where Michigan resides.
Paul Finebaum isn’t bullish at all on the Wolverines this season now. After their loss on Saturday, Finebaum spoke pessimistically about their chances to return to the newly expanded College Football Playoff. Finebaum joined SportsCenter on Sunday and discussed Michigan and its chances this year.
“This is where I think the season really goes haywire for them, because they had to beat somebody,” he said via On3. “They had to make enough, they had to pull an upset, I think, to get to the playoffs.”
“Texas was one of those schools and now, there’s an impossible path, quite frankly,” Finebaum said. “I don’t want to write this entire season off because they were playing one of the three or four best teams in the country yesterday, but they were at home, and they were so ineffectual.”
Finebaum stuck a fork in the Wolverines. After what happened on Saturday, it’s understandable why.
