The Ole Miss Rebels have been one of college football’s most dominant teams so far this season, starting with a 2-0 record.
Ole Miss rolled to an eye-popping 77-0 season-opening win over the Furman Paladins on August 31 and followed that up with a 52-3 win over the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders.
The Rebels’ success has been a group effort, but quarterback Jaxson Dart has led the charge. Dart has gone 47-for-54 through two games for 795 yards and six touchdown passes. While the quality of competition is lower than what Dart will see for most of the season, it’s an undoubtedly strong start.
Strong enough that on Saturday, Dart broke the SEC record for consecutive completions to start a game when he completed his first 24 passes against Middle Tennessee State. His first incompletion came with 9:56 left in the game after it was well in hand.
Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Tee Martin set the previous record of 23 straight completions in 1998, and Matt Corral set the previous Ole Miss record of 19 in 2020.
Dart also completed his final six passes of the game against Furman, giving him 30 straight completions over two games, which is also a first in SEC history per ESPN Stats and Info.
Dart and the Rebels will look to continue their streak of hot play when they head to Winston-Salem for a showdown with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on September 14.
