The LSU Tigers are down on their luck a bit. While they answered their Week 1 defeat with a victory in Week 2, the 1-1 start hasn’t induced optimism down in the Bayou. LSU head coach Brian Kelly understands those frustrations.
Ahead of Week 3, Kelly addressed the media and discussed his Tigers. While their play hasn’t been up to par with fan expectations, Kelly assured fans that this team is capable of much more.
“Each week is a week in itself,” the LSU coach said via On3. “So be careful about the narratives of this team is this, this team is that. I know what this team can be. I watched them play against USC. They did not finish very well against USC. They need to be a complete four-quarter football team.”
Kelly added: “We’ve got to run the ball more effectively. Certainly, I thought we did some really good things late. I thought Zy Alexander came in and competed for the football, but we had some [pass breakups], and I thought we settled down.”
“This was a week that this team was taxed and didn’t play its very best and still won,” he said.
Kelly and LSU will begin SEC play this Saturday. The Tigers open the 2024 SEC season against the South Carolina Gamecocks. College GameDay will be on the scene in Columbia for this rare matchup.
