Nearly eight months after he was hired to replace Jim Harbaugh as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, Sherrone Moore now has an official contract.
Michigan announced the news Wednesday morning in a release and on X.

Moore and the Wolverines agreed to the framework of the deal in January, but it wasn’t made official until this week, as Moore coached the first two games of the season under no contract and, in theory, could have left Michigan at any point.
“I am excited to have this full contract completed. Their support for our team is greatly appreciated and all three of us [University President Santa Ono and Athletic Director Warde Manuel] are aligned in our goals for this football program,” Moore said.
ESPN reported that Moore has a $5 million buyout to start the deal, which will decrease by one million dollars per year. Depending on Michigan’s performance and postseason success, Moore can earn up to $3.5 million in bonuses per year.
Michigan is 1-1 so far this season with a season-opening win over the Fresno State Bulldogs on August 31 before a 31-12 drubbing at the hands of the Texas Longhorns last week in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines will look to climb back over .500 on Saturday when they host the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
