The Alabama Crimson Tide are 2-0 in the 2024 season, as new head coach Kalen DeBoer has picked up where Nick Saban left off regarding nonconference dominance.

Under Saban, Alabama went 61-3 in nonconference games, taking two losses in 2007 and not losing another until 2023’s loss to the Texas Longhorns.

While DeBoer still has work to do to get to 61-3, which included 57 consecutive nonconference victories for Saban’s teams, he’s on the right path. Alabama struggled in the first three quarters of last week’s game against the USF Bulls but won 42-16

Alabama now embarks on a task that became increasingly rare under Saban as they head to Madison for a road nonconference showdown with the Wisconsin Badgers. While Alabama is heavily favored in the game, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum pinpointed one concern for the Tide.

“The problem is, and we saw some of this last year at this point in the season, their offensive line is struggling. The reason it’s struggling is Kadyn Proctor, the tackle, has been out and they are playing makeshift and that’s why South Florida looked like a world-beater against Alabama. They created all kinds of problems. This game was in doubt in the fourth quarter 21-16, and finally, Alabama got three late touchdowns. But they better get better before they head up to Madison this weekend,”  Finebaum said on SportsCenter via On3.

Quarterback Jalen Milroe has been sacked four times this season, including three against USF. Wisconsin has recorded four sacks in their two games this season, as well.
