The Michigan Wolverines returned to their winning ways on Saturday. The team defeated Arkansas State, thanks in part to a quarterback change during the game. Head coach Sherrone Moore benched Davis Warren and put in touted dual-threat Alex Orji.

On Saturday, Orji played well enough for the team to win. Michigan fans desperately wanted to see competent quarterback play, and that’s what Orji provided.

After Saturday’s win against the Red Wolves, Moore addressed the media and spoke highly of his quarterback.

“Orji went in there and did a good job,” Moore said via On3. “Missed the one throw, but thought he controlled the offense pretty well. We’ll go from there.”

Orji did handle things well after being thrust into the situation. Warren’s poor play was too much for Moore and the coaching staff to overlook on Saturday. It’s an unfortunate way for things to have played out, but Michigan likely made the right choice on Saturday afternoon at the Big House.

Things won’t get easier for Michigan going forward, however. The USC Trojans are next on the Wolverines‘ schedule. USC has looked much improved, especially on defense. If the Trojans bring their best, given what’s happened this year, the Wolverines could be in for a long night.
