The Auburn Tigers aren’t having a very good start to the 2024 college football season.

The Tigers are 2-2 with losses to the California Golden Bears and, as of Saturday, the Arkansas Razorbacks to open SEC play 0-1.

Making things worse for the Tigers is the fact that Hugh Freeze, who Auburn signed to a six-year contract worth roughly $6.5 million per year before the 2023 season, is now just 8-9 through his first 17 games with the school and has started blaming everyone besides himself, including his quarterbacks.

Auburn’s 24-14 loss to the Razorbacks on Saturday saw Tigers quarterbacks Payton Thorne and Hank Brown combined for four interceptions. The Tigers have thrown eight interceptions this season, and after Saturday’s loss, Freeze ripped into his quarterbacks.

“I know that there’s people open and I know that we’re running the football. We’ve got to find a guy that won’t throw it to the other team and we’ve got to find running backs that hold on to it,” Freeze said after the game.

It’s worth pointing out that Freeze recruited both Brown and Thorne.

The Tigers return to action on September 28 when they host the Oklahoma Sooners.
