The Colorado Buffaloes are an absolute thrill ride, for better or worse. Since Deion Sanders took over as head coach, Boulder, Colorado, has become one of college football’s epicenters. That continued last Saturday night, as the Buffs won an overtime thriller against Baylor in their Big 12 opener. Shedeur Sanders tied the game with a late Hail Mary throw and looked poised and sharp throughout the contest. ESPN’s Desmond Howard certainly took notice.
Howard spoke to On3 about the Buffs and their star quarterback, who many think will be drafted high in next year’s NFL Draft. Howard complimented the leadership he’s provided and considered him one of college football’s very best.
“They have tremendous leadership. I think Shedeur Sanders is one of the greatest players right now in college football,” Howard told On3, not holding back. “Not just quarterbacks, just players. Because of his leadership style, the way he approaches the game, extremely poised.”
That’s high praise for Sanders from one of the most recognizable players in college football history. So far, his play has done enough talking, even though Colorado has done a lot of talking. Sanders has 4,570 career passing yards through 15 games in Boulder.
The Buffs are back in action this weekend. Colorado will play UCF down in Orlando in their next Big 12 game, which could prove both fun and eventful.
