The Colorado Buffaloes are the talk of the college football world again. Colorado won a thriller on Saturday in their Big 12 opener against the Baylor Bears. But while optimism isn’t hard to find, there may still be reason to give pause. ESPN’s Paul Finebaum thinks so, at least.

Finebaum called out the Colorado offensive line as the team’s most significant weakness this season. That’s not breaking new ground by any means, but the Buffaloes’ line still will likely be the reason they don’t contend for the Big 12 Championship this year.

The ESPN analyst and longtime Southeastern Conference personality voiced his concern over the CU offensive line on Get Up. The panel discussed whether the Buffs could contend for the Big 12 in “Fact or Fiction” style, and Finebaum called it “fiction.”

“Everyone loved what we saw. It was arguably the play of the year; it wasn’t really even arguable, but they’re still not there,” he argued via On3. Finebaum said their offensive line still struggles to protect star quarterback Shedeur Sanders and believes, like many others, that it will be the team’s kryptonite.

The Buffaloes will hope to keep their momentum going this weekend. Colorado will play UCF down in Orlando in their first Big 12 road game of the season. It’s the Buffaloes’ first Big 12 road game since 2010, the last year they were in the conference before going to the Pac-12 in 2012.
