Vanderbilt Nick Saban Clark Lea

The Vanderbilt Commodores scored the most shocking upset of the college football season. Vanderbilt defeated the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide this past weekend. In the aftermath of that upset, Vanderbilt’s coach is letting it known he’s unhappy.

Very unhappy.

Commodores head coach Clark Lea initially balked at former head coach Nick Saban and his comments about the fans at Vanderbilt. Saban’s comments about the fans were played over the loudspeaker following the Commodores’ shocking win. Lea got honest and said that the comments “pissed him off” according to On3.

“Certainly, I don’t appreciate that being said, and I don’t appreciate any time that our program is the butt of the joke, but it’s our job to build something that’s dangerous, and that’s what we’re doing and I think the world found that out on Saturday,” Lea said via On3.

Lea continued, saying, “Coach has so much wisdom, and I think in his role now, he probably is responsible for more sound bites than he would like to or that he’s comfortable with, but I got a ton of respect for him. I don’t appreciate what he said.”

There’s been plenty of tension and hate in the atmosphere between Vanderbilt and Alabama. That does add an element to everything and it’s part of what makes sports so great. Expect Saban to respond to these words soon.
