The Florida State Seminoles’ season to forget continues to get worse, as head coach Mike Norvell announced Wednesday that starting linebacker DJ Lundy would miss the rest of the season with an injury.
Norvell didn’t disclose what is ailing Lundy, just that the senior will be unable to compete for the rest of the season.
Lundy didn’t appear in Florida State’s loss to Clemson last week after suiting up for the squad’s first five games.
So far this season, the linebacker recorded 25 tackles, with a season-high eight coming in Florida State’s Week 1 28-13 loss to the Boston College Eagles.
In his five-year FSU career, Lundy has recorded 208 tackles, deflected ten passes, and sacked the quarterback five times. Lundy also has forced one fumble and hauled in one interception in his career.
Since he only appeared in five games this season, Lundy is eligible to apply for a medical redshirt. Norvell said he was unsure what Lundy would be doing next.
Lundy’s loss will be felt majorly for an FSU defense already struggling this season. The Seminoles allow 401 yards of offense per game, the second-worst in the ACC. Included in that total is a garish 182.3 rushing yards per game, which is worst in the ACC by far and fourth-worst among all power conference teams nationwide.
