The eyes of the college football world will be affixed on Austin, Texas, this Saturday when the top-ranked Texas Longhorns host the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs in a game that may very well have significant SEC Championship stakes.
The Longhorns boast a perfect 6-0 record, including 2-0 in SEC play. The Bulldogs are 5-1 and 3-1 in SEC play, after taking their first regular season loss since 2020 when they fell 41-34 to the Alabama Crimson Tide earlier this season.
Both teams boast plenty of star players and heavyweights up and down their rosters, but one of the brightest stars on the Longhorns is currently listed as day-to-day.
Wide receiver Isaiah Bond, who left the Longhorns’ 34-3 Red River Rivalry victory over the Oklahoma Sooners last weekend with an ankle injury, is day-to-day and will be closely monitored this week leading up to the Georgia game, head coach Steve Sarkisian said Monday.
“I feel better today than I felt Saturday when he couldn’t finish the ball game. I’m optimistic, but he’ll be day-to-day,” Sarkisian said Monday via ESPN.
Bond leads all Texas receivers this season with 21 receptions and 369 yards to go along with three touchdowns. While Bond is the leading receiver, the Longhorns have spread the ball out quite a bit in the passing game this season, as Bond is one of seven Longhorns with at least 10 receptions and one of five with at least 150 receiving yards this season.
Bond had one catch for seven yards before leaving the Oklahoma game. Sarkisian expects Bond’s injury outlook to get more apparent as the week progresses.
