When we last saw the Arkansas Razorbacks, they had just pulled off one of the biggest upsets in school history, defeating the then No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers 19-14 on October 5.
The win was bittersweet for Arkansas, as starting quarterback Taylen Green went down with a knee injury in the fourth quarter, leading to backup Malachi Singleton coming in and driving the Razorbacks down the field for the game-winning touchdown with 1:17 to play.
Arkansas had a bye week last week and now has a meeting with the No. 8 LSU Tigers on the docket for October 19.
While Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman still doesn’t know if Green will return against LSU, he said Wednesday that he was ‘encouraged’ by Green’s progress.
“I have been encouraged about how he’s practiced. He’s still not full speed yet but we certainly think there’s a possibility that he can get there. We’ll have to wait and see there. Obviously we have two more practices and a walk, but have been encouraged about his progression this week,” Pittman said on the weekly SEC coaches teleconference per On3.
Pittman also noted during the bye week that Green didn’t suffer any ligament damage and the quarterback was ‘day-to-day’.
If Green is unable to make the start, Arkansas will yet again turn to Singleton in his place as they try to pull off their second straight upset of a top-10 team.
