After a disappointing stretch of games, it sounds like the Oklahoma Sooners are making a coaching change regarding their offensive coordinator.

On Sunday, Oklahoma officially announced that the team was firing offensive coordinator Seth Littrell after the team suffered its second consecutive blowout loss.

“Seth is an all-time great Sooner,” Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables said in a statement according to Yahoo Sports.

“He has a deep love for this university and football program, and has poured his heart and soul into both. Despite that, our performance as an offense this season has not at all lived up to the OU standard and I felt a change was necessary now.”

The move comes after Oklahoma suffered a 35-9 loss to South Carolina on Saturday which followed a 34-3 loss to Texas the week before. The Sooners have scored just one touchdown the past two weeks.

Following Littrell’s firing, co-offensive coordinator Joe Jon Finley will take over play-calling duties for the team.

The Sooners still have a rather difficult schedule ahead of them with four of their final five games coming against ranked opponents – No. 18 Ole Miss, No. 21 Missouri, No. 15 Alabama and No. 8 LSU.

We’ll have to see if this coaching change helps spark the offense.
