The Oregon State Beavers and Washington State Cougars were the two Pac-12 schools who didn’t receive an invitation to any other conference when realignment hit the Conference of Champions, but it seems as though it’s going to work out for them.
Starting in 2026, the Pac-12 will return with the Boise State Broncos, Colorado State Rams, Fresno State Bulldogs, and San Diego State Aztecs, and Utah State Aggies joining the Beavers and Cougars in the conference.
Until then, though, the Beavers and Cougars are still defacto independent teams for the next season, as their 2024 scheduling agreement with the Mountain West won’t be extended.
The teams have decided to make an unconventional agreement: To help fill out their schedules, they’ll play each other twice in 2025, once in Pullman and once in Corvallis.
Oregon State confirmed the news on Wednesday on their X account, announcing their full schedule.

The Beavers and Cougars have a long and storied head-to-head history dating back to 1903. ESPN notes that 2025 will be the second time that the schools play twice in one season, as it also happened in the 1945 season. Washington State swept the two meetings, winning 33-0 in Pullman and 13-6 in Corvallis.
In 2025, Oregon State will host Washington State on November 1 before heading to Corvallis for the regular season finale on November 29.
