USC moved to the Big Ten Conference this offseason. On Sunday, USC celebrated its first Big Ten title.

The USC women’s soccer team defeated the UCLA Bruins 1-0 in Sunday’s Big Ten Championship Game. USC boasted about the victory all over social media following the final whistle.

“THE TROJANS ARE YOUR 2024 BIG TEN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!!!” they exclaimed.

Trojans star Maile Hayes put her cap on the win with the game’s only goal.

The Trojans finished the season 14-1-2 as they were a dominant bunch out west. They handled their business this year and then won the Big Ten Tournament in deft fashion. Time will only tell now to see how they perform in this month’s NCAA Tournament.

Nonetheless, it’s a reason for the Trojans and their fans and alumni to celebrate. The soccer program hasn’t appeared in the NCAA Tournament since 2021. So this is a step forward in the right direction for them. While that transition to a new conference has plagued the football team, it did little to disrupt the women’s soccer team from reaching success.

USC and others reacted to the big-time title victory.

May the best continue for USC Trojans women’s soccer as they advance towards the NCAA Tournament.
