ESPN’s Rece Davis has a new team to beat in the Southeastern Conference. While Georgia, Texas, and Alabama dominated the conversation this year, Davis looked elsewhere to pick his new SEC favorite. Davis has his eyes on the Texas A&M Aggies.

The Aggies are without a conference loss as November nears. Texas A&M might have lost their opener to Notre Dame, but they’ve been barreling through teams ever since. The College GameDay host is impressed with what he’s seen.

“Now, this will probably not be what Aggies would refer to as ‘good bull,’ but I believe it’s not bull, but it’s the truth,” Davis said on this week’s College GameDay podcast. “Texas A&M is not the best team in the SEC. They’re also not the second-best team in the SEC. But they are the team to beat in the SEC because they’re sitting on top of standings; 5-0 record.”

Davis is factually correct and their pathway to the SEC Championship Game is being forged. After the Aggies took care of business against LSU, their remaining tests aren’t so stiff. They have road trips to South Carolina and Auburn before they finish the season in a major tussle with arch rival Texas. After the rivalry went dormant for years, it’s possible that the first matchup back could be for a trip to Atlanta. The Longhorns have but one loss in conference play so far to mighty Georgia. If they and the Aggies go unscathed the rest of the way, that matchup will be massive.
