The South Carolina Gamecocks have become the latest SEC school to receive a fine from the conference.

South Carolina rolled to a 44-20 win over the No. 10 Texas A&M Aggies. Texas A&M had been the SEC’s lone remaining unbeaten team.

Running back Raheim Sanders had a huge game for the Gamecocks, carrying the ball 20 times for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

As is often the case following a big win, South Carolina fans flooded onto the field after the game to celebrate the victory. Unfortunately, this is a violation of SEC rules, and it’s not South Carolina’s first.

On Sunday, SEC leadership announced a $250,000 fine for South Carolina’s second violation of the access to competition area policy. A third violation, along with all ensuing violations after, will cost the university $500,000.

South Carolina’s fine will be paid to Texas A&M per conference policy.

The policy states that “institutions shall limit access to competition areas to participating student-athletes, coaches, officials, support personnel and properly credentialed or authorized individuals at all times.  For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest may spectators enter the competition area.” It was originally implemented in 2004 before being amended in 2015 and 2023.

South Carolina will look to continue its winning streak on November 9 when the Gamecocks face the No. 24 Vanderbilt Commodores.
